Job description of CAOS Fellowship

Introduction:
This a sub speciality post developed for a fully trained orthopedic surgeon or for a trainee towards the end of his/ her training. Suitable candidates will be attached to Prof. Mahmoud Hafez for 6 months.
The job is based at 2 hospitals; October 6 university hospital ( teaching hospital, with all medical specialities, the largest hospital in October 6 district ) and Al helal Orthopedic hospital ( The National orthopedic hospital with 400 beds and more than 60 Consultants covering all Orthopedic subspecialities ) . Duties include both clinical and research work.
Requirements:
1- Satisfactory Orthopedic training
2- Orthopedic Postgraduate degree
3- Experience in arthroplasty
4- Interest in computer assisted surgery
5- Track record in research
Objectives:
1- Gain more experience in operative techniques in hip and knee arthroplasty (primary, revision, resurfacing and UKA).
2- Gain operative experience in navigation and computer assisted techniques in hip and knee arthroplasty.
3- Gain unique experience of the new technique of the custom made cutting guides for TKA.
4- To learn research methodology:
a. How to review a paper
b. How to write a paper
c. Reference manager
d. Statistics
• To present 2 papers in national and international conferences.
• To publish at least one paper and contribute to textbooks (book chapter).
• To apply for research funding.
• To improve knowledge in orthopaedic basic science.
• To obtain basic knowledge of computer assisted surgery through lectures and discussion with Prof. Hafez.
